What is it about ?

Aura’s Wonderland is a 30-minute, guided immersive experience which aims to engage and collaborate with its audience, to create a rebellion artefact. By stimulating the audience with different meanings, shapes and colours of rebellion, we aim to broaden their understanding of rebellion, before nudging them to tap into their memories of rebellion, to come up with their own feel, shape and colour of rebellion. All audience members will be asked to leave their mark on the artefact, no matter how minuscule or big they want their contribution to be. After a set of guided tours, the broader festival audience will be allowed to enter and view the venue in their own time.

How and Why?

The idea of reflecting on the meaning of this intangible and colourless spirit, which is rebellion, stems from our effort to best echo the festival theme ‘Embracing the Youth’. We believe rebellion is a shared human experience as a whole, but in the context of youth, it seems even more prevalent. Whether the youth rebels against oppressive values, meaningless proverbs or social expectations, they do have one thing in common, they reject sets of ideas and rules that were passed onto them and try and pave their own path. But is this the meaning of rebellion or is rebellion something different, is it a subjective experience and it’s shape and feel is different for everyone? Can rebellion be transformed into a tangible object which coherently reflects a shared meaning or will the artefact be full of separate, inconsistent and subjective reflections?
