Yesterday 12th of December the first-ever CMCI Winter Festival opened its doors to everyone at the Great Hall. Alumni, staff, family and friends were all part of this emblematic evening “embracing youth cultures”, filled with surprises, performances, speeches and a raffle.

The event started at 7 pm with a DJ set by festival curator Ehyram Amageshie, as audiences arrived and interacted with one another. During the night all the participants enjoyed a series of speeches from Faculty members such as Professor Marion Thain, the Arts and Hummanities Executive Dean. The stage also welcomed CMCI programme coordinator Dr Kate McMillan as well as the Events and Festivals module convenor Dr Estrella Sendra, who both shared a few thoughtful words about the third-year undergraduate students of the BA and their time at CMCI.

The night was also marked with the incredible performance delivered by The Rolling Tones, an award-winning acapella society at King’s College London. This opening night also had the pleasure of hosting three guest speakers from some of the charities that have been collaborating with some of the different events taking place throughout the festival: Lucy Globe from Centre Point, Santi from G(END)ER Swap and Halima CEO of Element Charity, who all took their time to explain their mission and tell their stories to the audience.

The co-hosts for this opening evening were Manon Luquand and William Hawari, the producer and treasurer of the director’s group, who entertained and accompanied the guests with speeches, a lot of humour and for the grand final event, the raffle.
